The NEW YORK CITY POWERBOAT POKER RUN took off at 1 PM on Saturday, June 16th. 152 Boats started and almost all of them finished the 75 mile course, which went to Ossining, Haverstraw, and finished in Manhattan at Surfside 3 Marine at Chelsea Piers. A 1 hour fog-delay was not a problem for the Captains and crews of the vessels that came from all over the nation to participate in this spectacular event, celebrating its 5th year anniversary on the Hudson River.
A wide variety of the Who's Who in the Powerboating World competed. Cigarette, Donzi, Sea-Ray, Nor-Tech, Scarab, Formula, Spectre, Hustler, Outerlimits, Sonic, among others, were all there to show off their latest models ... and the lifestyle that goes along with these boats.

Coach Jim Fassel of the New York Giants, along with Brian Bullock of the Baltimore Ravens, captained and crewed, respectively, his SEA-RAY Paceboat for the Speedboat Club, while DONZI paced the 80 MPH Club and CIGARETTE RACING TEAM paced the 100+MPH Club.
Liberty Landing Marina hosted the event at its unique location in Jersey City, adjacent to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Twin Towers of New York City.
All 3 parties were highlighted by Manufacture's outstanding displays, video entertainment, and professional, "happening", bands. June 15, 2002 is the date for next year's show in NYC.
